JH: I personally have been well. Thanks for asking. The family is great.

Question: The current 10th season of The Dimestore Fishermen has just started airing in the USA & Canada. Some of the locations are spectacular. You must have had a lot of fun last year?
JH: It was the most fun I have ever had filming the show. We were in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI. All were new locations for the show. We have a lot of fans in the Maritimes and it was about time we were there focusing on how much the Maritimes mean to our country. We had phenomenal experiences. We also had a chance to work with the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympics Secretariat filming footage that may be used during the Olympics here in Canada and abroad. We won the 2006 "Sportsman of the Year" award which is a top honor. All in all, it was a great year for The Dimestore Fishermen.
~ Jim is the founder and originator of The Dimestore Fishermen and has been with the show for all of its 10 years and this will be his 11th year of filming all over Canada. ~
Question: How about 2008? What is happening and where are you going?
JH: We are traveling this year to Nunavut. We are also in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and New Brunswick again. We are on the west coast and pretty much every where in between. We have some really great new sponsors and are anxious to get out fishing.
~ Jim Hoey has traveled over 100,000 miles while filming The Dimestore Fishermen. He is known to many in small towns all over the country. Jim donates his time to a number of volunteer efforts and charities. ~
Question: Is there any one experience from the 9th season that stands out for you?
JH: There are a few. I think the big walleye in Chapleau was special because of the irony of the situation. Those involved will know what I mean. It was a lifetime fish. A real milestone. Obviously, as I said before, the honor of filming for your country. We had a lot of fun in the Maritimes and we definitely had a great time on the west coast with our good friends at Oona River.

Question: This upcoming season will be one of your most trying yet. You have earned a reputation as a Canadian film maker, not just as a fisherman. To what do you attribute this?
JH: We film Canada. We do it coast to coast every year. We are outdoors every day, all day. We are in challenging locations whether on a river, on an ocean or on a lake you are in elements. So much of what we do when we feature Canadian destinations is also filming on land. In order to get the footage we want we need to cover a lot of ground. I think Castlegar is a great example. 50 degree days, on the water at 5:30AM and going until late at night. I wish we could do that every where we go. We have to maintain a routine or we would all collapse of exhaustion. I always tell the guys that you have to bring energy every day the same as the last. Leave it all on the playing surface. That is what makes us good outdoor film makers. The thing about a great reputation is you need to be consistent to maintain it. We love our jobs and we hope it shows. It is an honor to do what we get to do for a living. We always remember that in all that we do.
~ Jim will again be in 10 provinces coast to coast in Canada this year filming The Dimestore Fishermen and participating in a number of different events. Look for The Dimestore Fishermen in your home town this summer. ~
