Scientific Name oncorhynchus gorbuscha
Alternative Names Humpback, Humpback Salmon, Humpie, Pink, Slimy
Distribution Found in the Artic, Eastern Pacific From the Aleutions & Alsaka to Southern Califiornia and in the Western Pacific from Russia to Korea & Japan.
Size Max. Length - 76 cm (Approx. 29.9")

Max. Weight - 6.8 Kg (Approx. 15 Lbs)
Habitat After emerging from gravel as fry, Pinks head downstream immediately and will remain near shore for a few months before heading out to sea. They feed on Larval forms of sea life and plankton switching to larger food and fish as they grow. They spend approximately 1.5 years at sea before returning to spawn. Pinks are known to spawn in streams other than those the originated in.
What do they Look Like? In the ocean, Pinks have steel-blue to blue-green backs with silver sides and a white belly. They have relatively large oval shaped black spots on the back, adipose and caudal fins. When Spawning males have darker backs, red sides with patches of brown-green, females are similar but less defined. Pinks are the smallest salmon.

Their bodies are streamline and tapered towards both the head and tail with a somewhat squashed look from side to side.
