The Dimestore Fishermen recognized by Government of Alberta & the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for achievement of winning the 2006 “Sportsman of the Year” award presented by The Sportsman Channel.

05/29/2007

Recognition of The Dimestore Fishermen is given by great Canadian MLA Dave Rodney on behalf the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

Calgary, Alberta – May 29, 2007 – The Dimestore Fishermen television fishing program has received another special recognition by the Government of Alberta for having won the 2006 “Sportsman of the Year” award presented by The Sportsman Channel this past January in Orlando, Florida at the House of Blues. The award was presented by a great Canadian, PC MLA Calgary-Lougheed and Calgary Government Caucus Chair, Mr. Dave Rodney. "Sherpa Dave" is famous for being the only Canadian ever--& one of very few in world history--to summit Mount Everest twice!

"Dave is a great Canadian. Being recognized by a guy who is a hero to so many is something in itself. To then consider any recognition by your own government is other worldly. To receive this from Dave, someone I know to be a good, hard working person is an honor to us all here at The Dimestore Fishermen." says Jim Hoey host and producer of the show. "We’ll cherish this for years to come. It is on my wall right next to my desk along with my son’s drawings of rainbow trout.
